SV	Geliefden, ik vermaan [u] als inwoners en vreemdelingen, dat gij u onthoudt van de vleselijke begeerlijkheden, welke krijg voeren tegen de ziel;

ASV	Beloved, I beseech you as sojourners and pilgrims, to abstain from fleshly lust, which war against the soul;
BE	My loved ones, I make this request with all my heart, that, as those for whom this world is a strange country, you will keep yourselves from the desires of the flesh which make war against the soul;

Sch	Geliebte, ich ermahne euch als Fremdlinge und Pilgrime: Enthaltet euch von den fleischlichen Lüsten, welche wider die Seele streiten;
Web	Dearly beloved, I beseech you as strangers and pilgrims, abstain from fleshly lusts, which war against the soul;
Weym	Dear friends, I entreat you as pilgrims and foreigners not to indulge the cravings of your lower natures: for all such cravings wage war upon the soul.
